Hiking the Cow Creek trail today, I was nearly overwhelmed by the huge variety of flowers. Many of them were in shades of purple. So here you go, Prince fans … Purple Fringe, Larkspur, Colorado Columbine, Rock Clematis, Britton Scullcap, Wild Iris, Locoweed and Asters. Enjoy!
Always the first of the year … the purple Pasqueflower is up all over the Rocky Mountain National Park right now. See Twin Owls, Gem Lake and Glacier Creek trails, just to name a few. In the next two weeks you’ll see it at higher elevations as well — if the snow ever melts!
One of my sisters is visiting and has brought me great luck in finding wild flowers I’ve never seen before. That includes this lovely blue Star Gentian found in the woods on Old Fall River Road. More new finds to come!
Absolutely stunning — bigger than your palm — we found these at Coyote Ridge in Fort Collins at dusk. Big moths circle around pollinating them.
