On Fire

No flames, just Fireweed! I’ve heard that it grows where recent fires occurred, but I think that is simply not true. This wildflower/weed grows everywhere. In the past couple of weeks I’ve seen it on virtually every trail I’ve hiked. It can be in patches or single stalks, scraggly or full and fresh looking. Near water and on dry hillsides. It’s the big splash of color that warns us the wildflower season is nearly over…
