Balm For the Bees — and Me, Too

I found this huge patch of Beebalm (also called Horsemint) on the Twin Owls Loop. It was fantastic.  The bees were everywhere — many were more than an inch long. And so heavy that they drag the flower down when they grab on. These flowers get more interesting as they age — the petals turn from pink to lavender to purple, and get kind of straggly, but still pretty in an abstract way… much like some of us who are no longer pink, or even lavender.
