Bright Red (not orange) Crowns

A great year for the vibrantly red columbine — my husband says they are orange, but he is wrong. They are very, very red, with a bright yellow “face”. We found these on the North Inlet trail out of Grand Lake while looking for moose babies. No moose. But lots of wonderful wildflowers. Mixed in with these scraggly beauties, you might also find Calypso Orchids (see “my favorites” blog from last week).
